The Yellow Angel, also known as the Yellow Pygmy Angelfish or Lemonpeel Angelfish, is a bright and beautiful addition to any marine aquarium. Its vivid yellow body, often accompanied by a bold blue ring around the eyes, makes it one of the most striking dwarf angelfish species. The Yellow Angel can grow up to 5 inches and thrives in reef aquariums with plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding.
In the wild, this angelfish inhabits shallow coral reefs and lagoons in the Indo-Pacific region. The Yellow Angel is known for being relatively peaceful but may show territorial behavior, particularly towards other angelfish or similar-sized tank mates. It should not be housed with aggressive species, as this could stress the fish.
While the Yellow Angel can be added to a reef aquarium, it is considered reef-safe with caution, as it may nip at soft corals, clam mantles, and sponges. To keep it healthy and happy, provide a varied diet that includes marine algae, spirulina, high-quality angelfish preparations, and occasional meaty foods like mysis shrimp.
